Leeds United defender Conor Shaughnessy looks set to join Heart of Midlothian on loan for the rest of the season in a bid to secure some first team football.

The central defender has found his opportunities limited under Marcelo Bielsa this season, with several players standing between him and a first team place.

Most recently Finnish defender Aapo Halme has been covering, meaning the Eire Under 21 international has been left out in the cold.

He's now set for a spell north of the border in the Scottish Premier League looking to resurrect his flagging career.

Whilst he's not been involved this season, he has appeared nine times in the Championship and has shown enough potential to suggest there's some value in him. Leeds fans have seen it too, with some taking to Twitter to express their delight he'll be out getting regular football.

Others are questioning the sense in sending a defender out on loan when they're struggling in that position. Here's a selection of their responses from social media this morning.
