The Athletic's Phil Hay has revealed that Leeds United will not make any additions to their frontline in January provided Eddie Nketiah stays at the club, which has drawn a mixed reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.

The Whites moved to the top of the Championship with a 4-0 win over Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Saturday.

Leeds forward Patrick Bamford opened the scoring with his third goal in four games, while Nketiah made his first appearance since October after recovering from an injury.

There are question marks over the future of the Arsenal loanee, with Leeds reportedly expecting him to be recalled by the Premier League club.

The Mirror  – 22 November, page 74 (via HITC) – has suggested the Whites are set to sign Burnley striker Matej Vydra in the January window.

Hay has claimed that Leeds will definitely not add Vydra and that they will only look to bring in another forward if Nketiah were to leave.

Nketiah and Bamford have managed 12 goals between them so far this season–firing Bielsa's men into a commanding position in the race for promotion.

The only first-team player that the Whites added in last season's January transfer was goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Hay's update appears to have drawn a mixed reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club. After a late-season slump in form in the 2018/19 campaign, understandably it appears some are concerned and keen to see more reinforcements brought in, while others have suggested the update is positive.
