Former Bristol City attacker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has signed for SPFL side Livingston, which has drawn an interesting reaction from many Robins fans.

The 29-year-old remains a well-loved figure at Ashton Gate after a fruitful two-year spell in Bs3.

Emmanuel-Thomas joined from Ipswich Town in 2013 and produced some dazzling displays for City, grabbing 33 goals and 20 assists in two seasons and helping them win the League One/EFL Trophy double in 2015.

He was released ahead of their return to the Championship, however, and has struggled to have the same sort of consistent success since, bouncing between EFL clubs before joining Thai side PTT Rayong in January 2019.

The Arsenal academy product, who can play across the forward line and as a number 10, has been a free agent since leaving Rayong last summer but his next step became clear yesterday.

Livingston announced on Wednesday that Emmanuel-Thomas had joined the club and signed a one-year deal, with a 12-month club option, subject to international clearance.

He takes up the number nine shirt that has been vacant since Lyndon Dykes moved to QPR earlier this summer.

Emmanuel-Thomas clearly remains a popular figure at Ashton Gate and many City fans have taken to Twitter to voice their thoughts on his move.
