Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson has claimed his side's terrible performance against Coventry City yesterday "makes my mind up on lots of levels" in a scathing post-match interview, which has caused a stir among fans of the South West club.

Pearson was looking for a response after his team were brushed aside by Stoke City on Good Friday but the Robins were dreadful again as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Coventry at St Andrew's.

The visitors failed to clear a corner on multiple occasions, which allowed Leo Ostigard to stab in the opener after just nine minutes, while Matt Godden made it 2-0 from the penalty spot after the break.

Nahki Wells pulled a goal back for the Robins but Viktor Gyökeres made in 3-1 to take the sting out of the game in the final minutes.

Pearson did not hold back when speaking to club media after the game, delivering a scathing assessment of what is going on in Bs3 at the moment.

He said: "We have too many individuals with very low personal motivation at the moment. That is something that I really do not accept.

"Today against a side that are in a very difficult situation we were totally outplayed and outfought. For me to admit that is not a good thing.

"We could still get relegated that is the reality and the players are just ticking over at the moment. To have to go to the youngsters to try and get some sort of response is not really what I would expect.

"A very careless performance which makes my mind up on lots of levels but it's certainly not good enough and it's one I'm certainly not going to accept."

The 57-year-old coach joined City back in February on a short-term deal until the end of the season and is yet to sign terms beyond that, despite suggesting recently he'd like to see his future confirmed soon.

His latest comments have caused a stir among the Ashton Gate faithful with some supporters clearly concerned about losing him
