The former Leicester City man joined Rotherham last week, although it's yet to be announced how long his contract is, and became Steve Evans' second signing of the summer following Aidy White to the New York Stadium.

He was released by Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season after making 27 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign and played a part in the Owls having the second best defence in the league.

The 25-year-old admitted that he was taken aback by the atmosphere at the New York Stadium, and that the fans played a major part in his signing.

He told Clubcall: "I thought of that day when the chance came to sign for Rotherham. As a footballer, you live to play in matches and atmospheres like that. Yes, I'll have some more of that.

"It's a great stadium. Everything about it is right. I couldn't believe it when I played there last season. It was just so nice, so modern.

"The place erupted when Rotherham scored and the atmosphere was just incredible. I was taken aback at how good it was, to be honest.

"I'm looking forward to that first goal going in at New York Stadium with me wearing a Rotherham shirt, whether I score it or not.

"It will be an unbelievable feeling. I know from experience how passionate the Rotherham fans are."

Following back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship, it was always going to be a challenge for Rotherham to stay in the second tier, but they managed to do so by finishing in 21st place with 46 points.
