Bristol City fans could get to see January signing Nahki Wells make his first appearance at Ashton Gate on Friday when Birmingham City come to town.

The 29-year-old striker made the move from Burnley to the Robins last Thursday, and was registered in time to feature as a substitute in the 1-0 win against Wells' former club QPR on Saturday.

The striker is one of the more highly-anticipated signings of recent times for the City supporters, but manager Lee Johnson will have a tough decision to make on whether he throws him straight into the starting lineup.

Wells will have had a full week of training and getting to know his team-mates, City even showing a short snippet of what the striker can do on the training pitch in the lead-up to his potential home debut and maiden start.

The Robins have won their past four games in the league and their current starting XI will be full of confidence, having not conceded a goal in the Championship since facing Brentford on New Year's Day.

The old football cliche 'never change a winning team' could come into effect as Johnson decides whether to start with one of the league's more prolific strikers, or whether he decides to use him as an impact sub against Birmingham, sticking with the in form Famara Diedhiou.

Bristol City fans from the Facebook group Bristol City BS3 had their thoughts on whether Wells should be handed a starting berth against Birmingham, and here is what they had to say:

Callum Whitelock: Yeah, start him with Fam.

Chris James: Good finisher, only needs one decent chance.

Steve Sweet: Of course, start him with KP in the hole behind him. Drop Fam and Weimann. Let’s start playing football, how it should be played - not long balls all the time.

Lee Rendall: Players are picked on form, 4-4-2 Nahki and Fam up top.

Bristol City fans from the Facebook group Bristol City Till I Die also had their thoughts on Johnson's selection dilemia, and here is what they had to say:

Andy Bullen: Of course he should start. Why buy an on form player then put him on the bench?

Shaun Chilcot: Been wanting a striker for months, got one in...play him.

Jack Buchanan: Weimann out and Wells in for me.

Neil Skuse: 100% start from me.
