Sunderland booked their place in the League One play-off final on Thursday night with a resilient display.

In a scrappy affair at Fratton Park, Jack Ross's side came off the better, with the 0-0 draw meaning Chris Maguire's first-leg volley was enough to send the Black Cats through.

Despite going into the game knowing they needed to win, Portsmouth struggled to create many clear-cut chances and found Jon McLaughlin in inspired form when they eventually did.

They will now face either Charlton Athletic or Doncaster Rovers in the final at Wembley next weekend as they look to return to the Championship.

And after the match, captain George Honeyman shared his brief thoughts on the performances over the two legs.

Over the club's decline in recent seasons, Honeyman is somebody who has always remained highly-regarded amongst the fans.

And the reaction to this post show that that is still very much the case.

Here is what they had to say...
