Swindon Town have completed the signing of Reece Devine from Manchester United on a two-year deal, as announced on the club's website this afternoon.

The 20-year-old, who has also spent time in academy football at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City, has gained experience in loan spells at St Johnstone and Walsall in recent seasons.

Devine has been added to the squad with the Robins' attacking brand of football in mind and he expressed his emotions on getting the deal done when he spoke to the club's website.

He said: "It’s a really good feeling to sign for the club.

"I had some really positive chats with the new manager and I love the attacking football the team plays which will suit me massively - I’m really buzzing to get started."

"I’m naturally an attacking wing back.

"I love to get forward and whip balls into the box and I’ve got a good engine, so I’m looking forward to expressing myself on the pitch."

Having already lost the likes of Mandela Egbo, Joe Wollacott, Ryan East and Dion Conroy, now a free agent, in the summer window, Devine's addition comes at a very good time to build some optimism at the beginning of pre-season.

The Verdict

The Robins were one of the best teams in League Two when onsong last season, and produced an excellent run towards the back end to climb into the play-off places.

Scott Lindsey will be hoping to build from the platform that they set in 2021/22, having recently taken the reins in his first EFL managerial role.

Oscar Massey and Tyrese Shade have also entered the fray in the last few weeks, to ensure the Robins have a capable group of players when friendlies kick-off in the coming weeks.

Devine made eight appearances for Walsall in the second half of 2021/22, a taste of fourth tier action that should help him adjust quickly at The County Ground.
