West Bromwich Albion are set to beat out Turkish giants Galatasaray to the signing of free agent midfielder Okay Yokuslu with a full agreement now reached, according to Football Insider.

The 28-year-old is a popular figure at The Hawthorns due to his excellent loan spell during the 2020/21 Premier League campaign and became available after mutually agreeing to cancel his Celta Vigo contract earlier this summer.

Reports in Turkey have claimed that Galatasaray had made contact with Yokuslu over a move but it appears the Championship club have now won the race for him.

Football Insider has reported that the Baggies have reached a full agreement to re-sign the Turkey international.

Talks between the two parties are said to have been finalised with a deal now agreed.

Yokuslu will become Albion's latest impressive free agent acquisition this summer with both John Swift and Jed Wallace signed after leaving Championship rivals when their contracts expired.

The Verdict

Signing Yokuslu is a major coup for West Brom – not least as he's snubbed a big European club like Galatasaray to make the move.

They're a major player in the defensive midfielder's home country and a famous club across the continent but he's opted to return to The Hawthorns instead, which speaks volumes about how much he enjoyed his first spell there.

While Bruce's midfield options have already been bolstered by the arrivals of Swift and Jayson Molumby, Yokulsu will add more steel in the centre of the park – something that looks necessary.

The 28-year-old's pedigree – with 39 international caps as well as significant Super Lig and LaLiga experience – speaks for itself while he did not look out of place in the Premier League in his last spell at the club.
