According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Axel Tuanzebe could be set for his Aston Villa debut in the coming week, with it understood that the on-loan defender will be in the squad to face Sheffield United.

Due to the FA Cup this weekend Villa aren’t in Sky Bet Championship action, with Steve Bruce’s side having to wait until Tuesday evening for a return to action, when they travel to Bramall Lane.

Tuanzebe is set to be involved in some capacity in that squad, having arrived at Villa Park on-loan until the end of the season from Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has made just three senior appearances so far this season, with one of those coming in the Champions League for Manchester United.

The youngster is now at the beginning of his first spell away from Old Trafford, and could be thrust straight into Championship action when Bruce’s squad travel to Bramall Lane on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s clash will see two of the Championship’s top-six going head-to-head, with Villa in fourth and Sheffield United slightly adrift of them in sixth.

Whilst Villa take a break this weekend, Tuesday’s opponents are in FA Cup action against Preston North End.

The Verdict

Tuanzebe is a signing that Villa’s supporters should be very excited about, with the Man United youngster one of many exceptionally talented players at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old will bring versatility to Villa’s backline, and him making his debut next week comes as no surprise.

Tuesday night is a big game, but if Tuanzebe is thrown in he should be more than capable of dealing with the contest.
