QPR have today waved goodbye to Jordy de Wijs who has left the club to join Fortuna Dusseldorf, as reported by the club's official Twitter.
The player did spend the second half of the last campaign on loan with the German club and managed a total of 10 appearances in the league with one goal. The side clearly liked what they saw of de Wijs and have now made the deal a permanent one.
Prior to being allowed to leave the Hoops though, he featured only a handful of times in England for QPR. In the last campaign, he could muster only 11 starts and one assist before being shipped out on his loan deal to Germany.
Previous to that, in his first campaign with QPR, he managed only nine Championship outings with one goal along the way. He never really managed to get regular football at Loftus Road then and will now head to Germany in pursuit of more minutes.
It marks his permanent venture to Germany in his career, with the 27-year-old having only previously played in England for QPR and Hull and in the Netherlands for a smattering of clubs.
Now, his new challenge will see him take on Germany with Fortuna Dusseldorf - and he'll no doubt be hoping to get plenty more minutes under his belt now he is no longer a QPR player.
The Hoops on the other hand will now look to potentially bring in a replacement or use the freed-up funds to recruit elsewhere in their squad now that they are being led by Michael Beale.
The Verdict
Jordy de Wijs never really got ample opportunity to prove what he was capable of on a regular basis in the Championship with QPR during his time there.
The defender showed flashes of his brilliance but with only 21 games in the league in two seasons for the side, it isn't a fair reflection of what the defender is capable of. When you consider he looked much brighter for Hull during his time there, when he was a regular feature, it shows what he can be capable of given chance.
The Hoops loss is Fortuna Dusseldorf's gain though. The German side have clearly liked what they have seen of the player so far during his loan stint and now he will be back there next season permanently.
The 27-year-old will likely get much more regular football under his belt now he has departed QPR - so it will be best for both parties for this deal to happen between the two clubs.
