Ipswich Town will be looking to bow out of the Championship on a high in the coming weeks but it will not be easy.

The Tractor Boys are heading to Sky Bet League One in the coming weeks and have the likes of Sheffield United and Leeds United on the horizon.

More important than anything, though, is the need for them to start planning ahead for the new campaign and Paul Lambert will need to have an idea of the ins and outs he requires.

By the sounds of things, too, Danny Rowe could well play a part at Portman Road rather than at Lincoln City next season in the third tier.

He revealed to BBC Radio Lincolnshire that whilst he has loved his time at the title-winning League Two side, he could well see the next steps of his future played out in Suffolk.

“From what I’m hearing I think Ipswich might want me back in the summer.

“I get on well with all the boys and there’s a great manager so obviously, I would be open to coming back here depending on what football I’d be guaranteed elsewhere.

"For me, I’d love to be back here, but we’ll have to see what happens.”

The Verdict

A knock for Lincoln for sure but a potential boost for Ipswich.

Rowe has had a good spell on loan with the Imps as they secured the fourth tier title and that experience will set him in good stead for a charge with Ipswich next season.

They'll be looking to bounce straight back into the Championship if they can, and Rowe could well play a significant role in that.
