Leeds United have a number of young players on their books that could have a bright future ahead of them at Elland Road.

One of those is Tom Pearce, and the young full-back has been out on loan with League One side, Scunthorpe United since joining them on Deadline Day in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old has been impressive in his loan spell with the club and will be hoping he can continue to impress whilst away from the promotion-chasing Whites.

He netted a stunning goal for Scunthorpe on Tuesday evening as they thrashed Southend United 4-1.

But there have been questions raised as to whether the on-loan defender meant to fire home from distance, with many claiming it was a cross.

Pearce took to Twitter to respond to those claims, and is quietly confident that the goal was an intentional shot.

He has already made two appearances under Marcelo Bielsa this season, and will be hoping that he can stake a claim for a regular starting spot when he returns from his loan spell.

Pearce looked bright in his breakthrough season with Leeds and there are high hopes for him to play a starring role in the future of the club.

The Verdict:

There is absolutely no way he meant this!

If he did, then it's one of the goals of the season, no doubt about that!

I can see Pearce breaking back into the first-team when he returns from his loan spell, as he has really impressed me in the early stages of his professional career.
