Reports have emerged that Leeds United snubbed interest from Premier League champions Manchester City back in November for youngster Jack Clarke, claims the Mirror.

The report claims that Pep Guardiola's men attempted to prise the 17-year-old away from Elland Road before he penned his first professional contract last November - a move which Clarke turned down.

"I wouldn’t want to leave when I’ve got everything I want here", said Clarke, who came off the bench to make his first appearance for Leeds last weekend against Brentford.

The 17-year-old, who can play anywhere across the front-line, looked bright when he came on and was a constant threat to Bees' full-back Moses Odubajo, who arguably should have been sent off for a second bookable offence after hacking down Clarke in the latter stages of the contest.

Clarke signed a four-year deal at Elland Road back in November and definitely looks to be one for the future for Marcelo Bielsa's men who currently sit just outside of the automatic promotion places, after twelve league games.

The Verdict

This is interesting news for sure, and it shows just how highly Clarke is rated in northern parts of the country if City were looking to sign him back in November.

It is also a measure of Leeds’ set-up and the pathway from the youth to senior team that the exciting youngster decided to remain at Elland Road, despite interest from the best team in England.
