23-year old keeper Joe Lumley has been recalled by parent club QPR after current stand-in Matt Ingram picked up an injury.

Ingram has featured in the two previous games as regular number one Alex Smithies prepares to be a father, but came off in Saturday's game against Brentford with clinical concussion.

New protocol requires a seven-day lay off after such an injury, ruling him out of this weekend's clash with Birmingham City.

Former Spurs youth Lumley has been on loan at Bloomfield Road and has kept three clean sheets in his last four matches.

He's played 18 times in total since his January move to the north west, but has played just twice for the Hoops, against Nottingham Forest and Blackburn in 2016.

Rangers are currently 16th in the Championship with nothing to play for but pride, whereas Saturday's opponents Birmingham City need at least a point to guarantee their own safety.

The Hoops finish off with a trip to Elland Road, facing a Leeds side also likely to feature a young keeper who has progressed through the ranks, Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Verdict

This might be harsh on Blackpool if they were a little further up the table, but they're out of the promotion race just as QPR are in the Championship.

This is a great chance for Lumley to come in and impress, he's been excellent at Blackpool and did his reputation the world of good with a series of impressive displays. You have to feel sorry for matt Ingram though, he's waited patiently for his chance to shine and has had it snatched away from him.
