Millwall have recalled defender James Brown from his loan spell at Livingston.

According to NewsAtDen, the 20-year-old has returned to The Den after recent upheaval at the Scottish Premier League side.

Manager Kenny Miller left the Livi two weeks into the season and with game time uncertain north of the border, the club have exercised their recall option on the young right-back.

During his time at the SPL side, Brown made one appearance for the club, making his debut in the opening day of the season defeat against Celtic at Parkhead.

Brown played for Millwall’s U23 side and won a penalty in the comfortable 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers U23 on Sunday afternoon.

The Verdict

For a young player, a loan move is an important step in their career to try and gain valuable first-team football, as well as footballing and life experience.

Heading to Scotland would on loan would have been a big move for James Brown, with the recent upheaval, Millwall were right to exercise their recall clause for the young right-back to return to The Den.

If Brown wasn’t going to play under the new manager, which you assume he wouldn’t, then the loan is a waste and nothing is gained from it.

Going back to playing U23 football, will be a test having been in and around a first-team squad.

That should, however, only serve as motivation for the youngster to kick-on to try and make it into the first team soon.
