Nottingham Forest's Joe Worrall today signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the club and revealed that it was a 'dream come true' to extend his stay at the City Ground.

The youngster has been in and out of the team in recent weeks, but clearly Mark Warburton sees a lot of potential in the 20-year old centre-back.

Speaking to the club's official site, the local lad revealed just how it felt to pen a long-term deal with Forest. “I'm very happy. To sign a contract at a club I have been at for a long time, is a dream come true so I am very happy. It is a long time to be signing a contract at 20-years old but I am more than happy to do it.” Worrall has made 27 appearances for the Reds since emerging from the academy last season and has impressed on the whole.

The defender was also very clear and what his ambitions are for over the next few seasons, and thanked his manager for trusting him. “We need to get back to where we belong and that is my goal.” Forest are just four points away from the play-offs ahead of Saturday's trip to Hull City.

The Verdict

Joe Worrall has made a big impact at Forest since breaking through and is clearly highly thought of by everyone at the club going by the length of this deal.

The fans will love his comments as it shows just how much pulling on the shirt means to him.

Now, he has to kick-on and fulfil the potential that many believe he has. Of course, as a youngster he will make mistakes, but this contract should give him extra confidence to show people how good he can be.
