Rolando Aarons has sent a message to Sheffield Wednesday on social media, after his loan spell at  Hillsborough has come to an end.

The 23-year-old joined the Owls from Newcastle United on transfer deadline-day in January, signing a loan deal until the end of the season and played an important role in the club's revival under Steve Bruce.

The winger made ten Championship appearances for the Owls and scored his only goal for the club in the 2-0 win at Bolton Wanderers in March, before suffering an injury.

Aarons wished Sheffield Wednesday all the best for the future with this message on his personal Twitter account, describing it as a privilege to play for the club.

Sheffield Wednesday finished tenth in the Championship table, ten points outside the play-off places and Bruce will be looking to considerably strengthen his squad in the summer, as he looks to build a team that will challenge for promotion next season.

The Verdict

Aarons was a decent signing for Sheffield Wednesday and did well in the games that he played.

It's a shame that his time at Hillsborough was effectively cut short due to injury, but he still managed to play an important role in the matches that he did feature and the club did not lose a game when he played.
