Preston North End expect to field bids for striker Jayden Stockley this month as the interest in the forward ramps up.

The striker spent time on loan at Charlton Athletic in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign and did well as the Addicks challenged for the play-offs.

Ultimately, they just about fell short but the Lancashire Evening Post reports that they are among the clubs chasing him with several other League One sides that will be looking for promotion next year.

According to the report, though, Stockley favours a move to The Valley and so, if Charlton make a good enough bid, they could well be able to keep him on a longer-term basis.

The Verdict

The report states that Preston are expecting to field bids this month ahead of pre-season training starting in July and it's going to be interesting to see just who ends up launching a move for the player.

He showed he's more than capable at League One level and, if Charlton would like to have him for next season, the opportunity is there.

He's a player that the Addicks need, too, in terms of a real focal point to their attack as we don't know what Chuks Aneke and Ronnie Schwartz are going to be doing, but we'll have to see if Nigel Adkins wants to launch a move.
