Brentford currently have just one fit striking option available to them, and have started to make preparations to bring back one of their on-loan strikers in January by the look of things.

Marcus Forss is currently on loan to League One side AFC Wimbledon, joining at the end of the summer transfer window.

He has been in excellent form for The Dons, netting seven times so far in the league, with a notable hat-trick against Southend being his standout moment so far in the blue and yellow shirt.

With the signing of Nikos Karelis in the summer, Brentford wanted Forss to get some game-time under his belt, but that plan has backfired as Karelis will be on the sidelines for a lengthy period after suffering a serious knee injury.

Today has been the furthest indication yet that Forss will be recalled by Thomas Frank in January, courtesy of a tweet by the South London Press journalist, Richard Cawley:

As shown in the tweet above, Brentford have made Forss unavailable for Wimbledon's FA Cup first round tie at home to Doncaster Rovers this Saturday, to prevent him from being cup-tied in later rounds for his parent club.

The Verdict

The 20-year-old has been a key player for Wimbledon, so if the hint is proven true, Glyn Hodges will be disappointed.

However, this news means that it is almost certain that Forss will be returning to Brentford in January, which will be good news for them, considering their circumstances in the striker position.

The Finn will be hoping that he can force himself into the first team at Griffin Park before too long.
