Aston Villa celebrated a return to the Premier League yesterday after they beat Derby 2-1 at Wembley.

Dean Smith's side have enjoyed a remarkable final few months of the season and they topped it off with a vital victory against the Rams.

One man who has been on the fringes recently is experienced centre-back Tommy Elphick, who missed eight games through injury in early March and failed to win his place back after that given the form of the side.

Despite that, he shared his pleasure at Villa's promotion with a tweet last night, which was the fourth time he has gone up as a player.

However, a return to the Premier League is likely to spell the end of Elphick's career at Villa Park as his contract is up in the summer and he is expected to be released.

Yet, even though he only made 11 appearances after returning from a loan to Hull in January, the centre-back will be remembered fondly by the fans for the role he played in helping the side.
