Blackburn Rovers are among the clubs interested in a move for Jerry Yates, according to Football Insider.

The Blackpool striker has enjoyed a wonderful season in League One after finding the net 16 times so far to help the club in their push to secure promotion to the Championship.

That form hasn't gone unnoticed, however, with Rovers joining the likes of Bristol City and Nottingham Forest in the hunt for the 24-year-old's signature.

But would Yates be a good signing for Tony Mowbray's side?

The team at FLW have their say...

Alfie Burns This is probably Blackburn planning for life without Adam Armstrong, who looks destined for a move into the Premier League. Yates has scored a lot of goals in League One and could do the same in the Championship if he was to make the move to Blackburn. Of course, it would come with risk given it’s a step up, with Armstrong’s boots big ones to fill. However, in the current climate, it is perhaps where Blackburn should be looking to source a potential replacement for Armstrong. If Blackburn keep creating chances like they do, then Yates could be successful at Ewood Park.

George Harbey I think this would be an excellent signing for Blackburn. I think Tony Mowbray is practically resigned to losing Adam Armstrong this summer, given that Newcastle and West Ham are interested and Rovers’ play-off hopes are dead and buried. Yates would be a top replacement for Armstrong, though. I rated him at Swindon last season and was surprised that Rotherham didn’t give him a chance in the Championship this season. His goal record in League One is superb, and I’d definitely back him to make the step up to the Championship and impress next season. He is a similar type of player to Armstrong, too, so I think he’d be a good fit. Ben Wignall When you factor in that Adam Armstrong will most likely be cashed in on this summer, Blackburn will definitely need a striker next season. Yates would not be a like-for-like Armstrong replacement - he doesn't have the explosiveness that the former Newcastle man possesses - however what he does have is a goalscoring tough. The 24-year-old has scored 14 times for Blackpool this season in League One and he would represent a punt that is worth taking for Rovers, and it would be an ideal move for Yates as well considering the distance between the two clubs isn't exactly massive. This may all hedge on Blackpool and what league they're in next season though - the Seasiders are on an incredible run where they've lost just once in 13 games and if they do get promoted to the Championship then they're probably going to be reluctant to sell, and the price will probably be raised from the £2 million they apparently want.
