The loan window closes in just over two weeks and Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is still hoping to further add to his squad.

Villa have had a turbulent summer and now are coming out of a financial black hole with the new investment the club received in the last three weeks.

Players are slowly arriving at Villa Park with Bruce looking to continue to strengthen his side to mount a sustained promotion push for a second successive season.

The current squad at Villa Park, however, still lacks a little bit of depth, so further additions are imperative to chasing the Premier League dream once more.

John McGinn is the most recent recruit, and he had a hand in the Villains’ 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic over the weekend with an assist just 13 minutes into his debut.

With that said, here are three potential loan developments that could excite Aston Villa supporters.

The Chelsea midfielder is out-of-favour at Stamford Bridge and has not been named in their 25-man-squad for the rest of the top-flight season.

Having won the Premier League with Leicester three years ago, the England international has found life difficult in London.

Reports suggest the 28-year-old is to be sent abroad, but Villa should snap him up to add real quality to their midfield if they are to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

A fans favourite after his exploits last season which helped Villa make the Championship play-off final.

Manager Steve Bruce should do what he can to coax the winger away from the London Stadium once again to join him at Villa Park.

This signing would excite supporters and be one that would pay off with the former Leeds man playing a vital role in the relative success the Championship had last year.

A striker is needed at Villa Park, and Connor Wickham is an all-round forward.

Having had a long injury lay-off at Crystal Palace, game time and regular first-team football is something that is needed for the striker.

Villa would be the perfect club for Wickham to get back to his best and should he make a move back to the Championship side.

It would be a real coup for Aston Villa.
