Preston North End will be hoping to find some consistency in their results as they head into the second-half of this year's campaign.

Alex Neil's side haven't been at their best in recent weeks, which has seen them drop out of the top-six over the festive period.

The Lilywhites are currently sat tenth in the Championship table, but are still within touching distance of the play-off places and are two points adrift of sixth-placed Swansea City heading into this weekend's fixtures.

Preston have added strength in depth to their side recently though, with Scott Sinclair arriving from Scottish giants Celtic, which many supporters are likely to be pleased with.

There are still plenty of rumoured incomings and outgoings and Deepdale this month though.

We look at how Preston's January transfer window could play out if rumours are to be believed.

In: Jack Clarke

Clarke has returned to Tottenham Hotspur early from his loan spell with Leeds United, but it looks as though he could be set for a move back out on loan in the near future.

It's been reported by The Sun (January 4th, page 67) that Preston are one of the teams interested in striking a deal with Spurs to sign Clarke on loan for the remainder of the season.

The youngster was impressive with Leeds in his breakthrough season with the Whites last term, and will have been disappointed not to have featured on a more regular basis in this year's campaign.

Preston will have to offer Clarke first team assurances though, as Spurs won't want to send him out on loan to a club that won't give him regular minutes.

Millwall, Derby and QPR have also been credited with interest in the Premier League winger according to a recent report from the Daily Mail.

Out: Josh Earl

Earl has recent returned to Deepdale early from his loan spell with League One strugglers Bolton Wanderers. But his return could be short-lived.

It's been reported by Football Insider that Joey Barton's Fleetwood Town are interested in signing the defender on loan for the remainder of this year's league campaign.

Alex Neil is said to be keen to find Earl regular game time, with the 21-year-old down the pecking order in Preston's plans for the rest of the season.

Out: Chris Maxwell

Maxwell is currently out on loan with Scottish side Hibernian, but has fallen down the pecking order, which will certainly come as a frustration to the shot-stopper.

The Lancashire Post have revealed that Maxwell is set for a change of clubs during January's transfer window, although it didn't state where his next destination could be.

The goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of this season, and it seems as though his days at Deepdale are numbered.

Can you name Preston's league position from the last 14 seasons?
