It’s been a very tough summer for Garry Monk and Birmingham City, with the club under a transfer embargo.

That has prevented Blues registering new signing Kristian Pedersen, whilst they are now unable to bring in players too.

This has meant Monk has missed out on several key targets, including goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski who signed a new deal with Ipswich Town instead.

Whilst Blues fans would be forgiven for fearing the worst, Monk has offered some hope in recent weeks, revealing that he has been assured this matter would be dealt with ahead of the new season.

Whether that happens remains to be seen but Monk has to plan ahead and line up new signings as the Blues squad is weak in key areas.

Here we look at two players he should look to bring in on loan deals if the embargo is lifted ahead of the opener against Norwich on Saturday…

The Wolves winger is completely out of favour at Molineux and will leave the Premier League side before the deadline.

After a tough few years, a move is what he needs and Monk could be the ideal man to get him back to his best.

Graham boasts electric pace and is an old-school winger that can beat his man and put crosses in, the sort of quality Blues need.

Monk also needs to bring in a goalscorer and Madine could be a smart loan from Cardiff.

It hasn’t worked for the striker in Wales and he could be way down the pecking order following the arrival of Bobby Reid and Troy Deeney heavily linked.

Therefore, Blues should take advantage and Madine would be the ideal target man and striker for the West Midlands side if he can rediscover the form he showed at Bolton before leaving in January.
