PL side reportedly seals player deal to leave Leeds, Derby empty handed

According to All Nigeria Soccer, Leicester City have beaten the likes of Leeds United, Birmingham City and Derby County to the signing of Daniel Obi this summer.
The youngster had been on the books at the Foxes as a youth team player but the report suggests now that he is going to be there for a longer period with him signing a two-year scholar contract.
Indeed, they suggest that the Whites, Blues and the Rams were all taking a look at the Nigerian but that they have seen him opt to stay with Brendan Rodgers’ side for the foreseeable future.
It won’t be a massive blow for the Championship sides, of course, as he is clearly a player that is for the future rather than the present, though it remains to be seen just how good he can become.
The Verdict
Leicester have got some good young players coming through and under Brendan Rodgers they have a real chance of making it to the first team.
Of course, the likes of Leeds, Derby and Birmingham could all offer him a path into senior football but given he’s already been with the Foxes, it makes sense for him to stay put where he is clearly settled.
