Sheffield United have had somewhat of a clear out at Bramall Lane during this summer’s transfer window, which could signal an influx of late signings by Chris Wilder.

The Blades have made two additions to their squad in the forms of goalkeeper Dean Henderson and centre back John Egan, but you only have to look at last season’s statistics to see where it is that United are in dire need of reinforcements.

Sheffield United scored 62 goals in their league campaign last season, twenty behind Championship title winners Wolverhampton Wanderers.

While Leon Clarke had a strong individual season, netting an impressive 19 times, the 33-year-old could start to slow this season, which is why it is time for Wilder to invest in some young attacking threats.

Whether it may have to be a loan deal or not, there are plenty of young attackers looking for their big break.

Here are the two signings that Sheffield United should make ahead of the new season.

Brentford’s attacking midfielder Ryan Woods is a gifted footballer, who can create chances out of nothing.

Since signing from Shrewsbury in 2015, Woods has gone on to make 122 appearances for the Bees, and while he may have the ability to drop back into a more defensive role, it is going forward when you see what the 24-year-old can do.

Wood’s played 39 times for Brentford last season, in a campaign that saw them finish just six points shy of the play-offs.

Obbi Oulare is on the books at Watford, but has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Belgian First Division sides Royal Antwerp and Zulte Waregem and Eredivisie team Willem II.

The 22-year-old striker has two Premier League appearances to his name, but has never been given the opportunity in the Hornets first team.

Whether Sheffield United could afford a permanent move for the forward, or a loan deal, it would benefit all parties involved, and give the Blades a tall, strong target man with bags of ability in front of goal.
