It’s been a tricky couple of months for Birmingham City and Gianfranco Zola, who have struggled to get things right in the Italian’s opening games at the club.

But after a much-needed win over Wolves last week, things are finally beginning to look-up for a revamped Birmingham City side, who showed real heart in the win over their local rivals.

There’s been thought amongst Blues fans for a few weeks now that things aren’t that far away from coming together and despite the lack of wins along the way, there have been positives to take from certain games in particular.

And speaking specifically, there have been some extremely promising performances from a number of individuals, even if things haven’t really clicked amongst the whole of the team over the past couple of months.

So with that in mind here’s TWO Birmingham City stars that will definitely be in the top-flight before you know it..

Cheick Keita

Signed in January from Serie B, teenage left-back Cheick Keita arrived at Birmingham with a growing reputation but no hard evidence that might suggest he’s going to be a top player in the future.

But in the past few weeks, we’ve seen some fantastic stuff from the pacy Frenchman, who has shone in at left-back despite the fact he can’t even speak a word of English.

The early signs have been promising and Birmingham might have scouted a real gem in the youngster, who will be a massive part of this squad going forward.

Josh Dacres-Cogley

Josh Dacres-Cogley might be widely unknown outside of Birmingham but for Blues fans, he’s the next academy product to have really broken into the first-team under Gianfranco Zola.

He’s managed to get plenty of first-team minutes thanks to injuries to Shotton, Robinson and Grounds over the past couple of weeks and he looks a much better player for it too.

But if he’s to eventually get to the Premier League, he’s going to have to really work on the defensive side of his game which at times, has been exposed by some of the better players in the division.
