Charlton have quickly put the disappointment of suffering relegation last season behind them in what has been a tremendous start to the campaign for the Addicks.
Despite an FA Cup exit to Plymouth Argyle last weekend, the Addicks are in a positive place right now and will be hoping to extend their six-match winning sequence when they return to League One action at Gillingham on Saturday week.
What’s more impressive is that Charlton have conceded just twice in that run, recording six clean sheets in the process – all without key defenders Jason Pearce and Deji Oshilaja.
Pearce only recovered from a calf problem to make his first appearance of the season against Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, whilst a foot injury has kept the latter out for more than a month – since the goalless draw with Sunderland.

However, following the captain’s return in midweek, Oshilaja also appears on the road to recovery, and took to social media to express his delight at being back on the training pitch.
“Yeah back on the green…..let’s go !! 😁👌🏿,” Oshilaja said on his Instagram,
Following a host of defensive signings over the summer, Bowyer has built an impressive squad, and the return of both Pearce and now Oshilaja only bolsters that.
Given their combination of quality and experience, Charlton have every chance of an immediate return to the Championship – especially if they continue on their current form.
