Ben White, Kalvin Phillips and a number of other Leeds United players have responded to Eddie Nketiah's message following his Elland Road departure.

Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa confirmed yesterday that Nketiah had been recalled by his parent club Arsenal.

The 20-year-old joined Leeds on a season-long loan in the summer but has not seen the sort of first-team opportunities he would have been hoping for.

Nketiah started just twice in the Championship for the Yorkshire club, with the majority of his chances coming as a substitute or in cup competitions.

Despite his lack of starts, the striker found the net five times in total for Bielsa's side–with only Patrick Bamford scoring more in the 2019/20 campaign.

It appears Nketiah had become a popular figure at Elland Road, amongst both teammates and fans, and he took to Instagram to send a farewell message.

Many of his Leeds teammates were quick to respond to his post, heaping praise on him and wishing him good luck for the future.

They may see their former striker soon, with Leeds traveling to the Emirates to face Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday evening.

Further ahead than that, it has been reported that a number of Championship sides are pursuing a loan deal for the second half of the season, so they may face him on the pitch soon.

The Verdict

Nketiah's exit is hardly a surprise, Bamford has been Bielsa's first choice for the majority of the campaign and the 20-year-old was just not getting the time he needed.

The Leeds players will no doubt be disappointed but clearly they respected the loanee and it's great to see them sending messages of support.

It is going to be very interesting to see the response he gets if he joins another Championship side on loan and returns to Elland Road this season.
