A number of Leeds United players, including the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Kiko Casilla, have sent messages of support to 20-year-old defender Leif Davis after his recent surgery.

A product of the Whites academy, Davis has been on the fringes of Marcelo Bielsa's first-team squad this season–making five appearances in total.

It appears he may have to wait a little while for his next game, however, as the left-back has reportedly undergone minor knee surgery to clean up cartilage.

It is understood that Davis is expected back within the month.

It appears the young defender is a popular figure in the Whites' dressing room as many of his teammates were quick to respond, sending him messages of support.

Davis made his debut during Bielsa's first season in charge and has gone on to make a total of 10 appearances for the Yorkshire club.

The Argentine coach appears to have a lot of faith in the 20-year-old and indicated earlier this season that he believes he has what it takes to break through into the first team.

The Verdict

It's good to see all the Leeds players sending messages of support to Davis and you'd hope that the young defender can return soon.

Their reaction shows a closeness in the squad, something that they will no doubt need during this testing period–with just one win since early December.

Davis has really impressed me in the brief opportunities he has been given this season and looks as though he has all the characteristics to be a successful full-back.

Hopefully, this surgery will not impact that and his message of reassurance to fans would suggest that it won't.
