Derby County manager Phillip Cocu has revealed that summer signing Krystian Bielik is not carryin a serious injury despite fears to the contrary.
The big money summer signing was seen playing this weekend with a heavily strapped thigh, putting fear into onlooking fans that he might well be carrying a serious injury and simply trying to play through it.
However, Cocu has allayed those fears when speaking to the Derbyshire Telegraph following the game, saying:
“He (Bielik) had a really painful dead leg. Bielik’s muscle is fine, but it feels more comfortable for him with the bandage on.”
That news from Cocu will be music to the ears of Rams fans who would have been fearing the worst about their summer signing who is only just getting himself up to full speed.
Bielik moved to Derby in the summer after spending successful loan spells with Charlton Athletic, with Rams manager Cocu swooping to add the former Arsenal man to his squad due to his versatility and impressive form catching the eye.
Derby could not hold on to their lead once again as West Brom scored a late penalty to deny Cocu’s men all three points at home.
Bielik will no doubt be hoping to see his injury completely heal in the coming weeks as he looks to get into the swing of playing regular games for his new club.
This is good news for Derby in relation to what would have been a bitter blow for the club.
Bielik is going to be a massive player for them this season so the sight of him with full strapping on his leg was a worry.
It looks like it’s nothing to fear though and Rams fans now move on and hope to see Bielik produce the sort of performances which earned him the move in the first place.
