Derby County will be hoping that they can force themselves into the play-off positions when competitive action gets back underway in the Championship.

The Rams are currently sat 12th in the second tier standings, and are just five points adrift of the top-six with nine matches remaining in this year's campaign.

However, that bid for promotion into the Premier League has been put on hold for the time being due to recent off-the-field events.

Phillip Cocu's side have shown glimpses of their quality this term, and will be keen to put together a positive run of results at the earliest of opportunities.

The club have recently returned to training as they continue their preparations for when this year's league campaign gets back underway.

Cocu's side have won their last two league matches, after seeing off both Sheffield Wednesday and play-off chasing rivals Blackburn Rovers, which are results they'll fancy their chances of building on heading into the final nine matches of the season.

The Verdict:

They're certainly in with a chance of finishing inside the top-six this season.

I've been really impressed with Cocu since he took charge of Derby County, and I firmly believe that he is the manager that can take them forward in the right direction.

The Rams are just five points adrift of the play-off places, and are definitely in with a shout of dislodging Preston North End from their place in the top-six, as Alex Neil's side are struggling for a positive run of results heading into the final nine matches of this year's campaign.
