Derby County boss Phillip Cocu has confirmed that right-back Jayden Bogle will be out for a week after suffering an ankle injury in the weekend draw over Swansea.

The talented 19-year-old was forced off early into the second half against the Swans and was ruled out of last night's Carabao Cup tie against Scunthorpe almost immediately.

However, the Rams had hoped to have Bogle back for the weekend game against Stoke but Cocu told the official site that the teenager will miss out, whilst he also won't feature against Bristol City in six days time.

"We know a little bit more now. He will be out for a certain period of time. He will not make it for the next two games so we will have to see how he will be doing day-by-day.

"He is still a young guy so hopefully it will not take too long. It’s a little bit longer than we had expected."

Max Lowe, normally a left-back, came on against the Welsh side on Saturday and he also played right-back last night, so he is expected to carry on in that role for the next two league games.

The Verdict

This is a big blow for the Rams as Bogle is a regular in the first-team and gives so much to the team in terms of his defensive ability and how he gets forward.

Whilst Lowe is a decent player, the reality is that he won't offer the same threat because he is left-footed.

So, this is something of a problem for the new boss and he will be hoping that Bogle is ready to return for the fixture at home to West Brom in ten days time.
