Bournemouth midfielder Phillip Billing has hit back on Twitter at criticism from Huddersfield Town fans over his time at the club.

The 23-year-old joined the Terriers as a youth player in 2013, signing from Danish side Esbjerg, and spent six years at the club.

Billing made 91 appearances in total for the Yorkshire club, helping them achieve promotion in the 2016/17 season and then featuring 43 times for them in the top flight.

Following the Terriers' relegation, he left to join Bournemouth last summer in a deal worth £15 million.

It appears the Danish midfielder is unhappy with the treatment he has received from parts of the John Smith's faithful and took to Twitter to hit back, posting an image of six awards from his time at the club.

Huddersfield have struggled this season and have been scrapping at the wrong end of the Championship.

The Terriers have been improved since the arrival of Danny Cowley but still find themselves 18th, just three points above the relegation zone.

Billing has had arguably the most impactful season of his career with the Cherries, making 29 appearances so far – more than he made in any one term for the Terriers.

However, Bournemouth are in a relegation battle themselves and are currently 18th, in the bottom three on goal difference.

Have these 15 current Huddersfield Town players been capped at international level? – Yes or no? Have a go now!

The Verdict

Clearly, Billing was unhappy about the treatment he had received from some Huddersfield fans and has taken to Twitter to hit out at his former club.

Showing your awards is perhaps not the classiest move in the world but given the amount of abuse footballers receive these days, in some ways you have to applaud it.

Bournemouth are in real danger of getting relegated this term, which could mean we see the 23-year-old face his former club next season – that could be spicy.
