Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign, they opened the season with a thrilling 4-3 victory at home against newly promoted Burton Albion and optimism of a successful campaign has since started to flow around the City Ground.

New manager Philippe Montanier will be keen to prove he has the credentials to be a success in England, and will be looking to strengthen his squad in any which way he can right up to deadline day.

Although, the reality of that situation is that if players are coming in then players are likely to go out.

This article takes a look at THREE players who Philippe Montanier should axe before the transfer window closes...

Dexter Blackstock

Dexter Blackstock is someone who has never hit the heights expected of him at Nottingham Forest and may be deemed surplus to requirements, especially after the return to fitness and form of their prized asset Britt Assombalonga.

Blackstock has been at the club since 2009 and has made almost 200 appearances for the club but has only managed to notch up 45 goals, and has only reached double figures in goalscoring terms in one out of seven seasons since his arrival from Queens Park Rangers.

Montanier may see selling Blackstock as an opportunity to get what is surely a decent wage off the books and create room to bring in a replacement.

Blackstock is a highly experienced striker and there is likely to be no shortage of suitors for the former Southampton, QPR and Derby County man.

David Vaughan

33-year-old former Wales international David Vaughan is another who could be deemed surplus to requirements at The City Ground.

He has been at Nottingham Forest since 2013 and has made a total of 63 appearances for the club, scoring just the 3 goals and has never re-created the form, he showed during the famous 2010-2011 campaign when Vaughan was appearing week in week out for Blackpool in the Premier League.

At the age of 33, Vaughan brings bags of experience to the squad but many Forest fans are keen to axe the former Sunderland man, and bring in a more dynamic youthful replacement who will inject pace and energy into the engine room of the Forest team.

Dimitar Evtimov

Young Bulgarian Goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov is someone who should definitely be trying to force a move away from The City Ground, if he is after first team football.

The 22- year-old has been at Nottingham Forest since 2011 and has made 2 appearances for the club's first team with both coming in the Championship.

Since being at the club he has enjoyed numerous loan spells at lower league clubs including the likes of Nuneaton Town and Mansfield Town.

He is clearly a goalkeeper of potential which has been recognised by the Bulgarian national team, who have capped him at both under 19 and under 21 level.
