There has been little to smile about if you're a Bolton Wanderers supporter this year, and it doesn't seem to be getting better anytime soon.

The Bolton News has revealed that the first-team squad and coaches weren't paid on time for February, which is sure to be hugely frustrating for all involved.

Bolton boss, Phil Parkinson has had his say on the matter and revealed that the players are being distracted by the off-the-field troubles that are haunting the club.

"It really frustrates me when they (the players) came in this morning and we're organising everything we've got to do for this preparation but half the talk is about the wages and the club," Parkinson was quoted by BBC Radio Manchester.

Parkinson also went on to admit that he isn't surprised by the talk about wages amongst the players, who are worried about the matter.

"You're trying not to let it distract, but it's inevitable that it does because that's what everybody wants to talk about.

"They're concerned because mortgages come out today or tomorrow, and that is a worry for people."

Bolton will be hoping his side can ease their relegation fears when they take on Swansea City this weekend, in what could be a crucial game in deciding which direction their season heads in.

The Verdict:

It's a hugely frustrating scenario for Bolton.

Parkinson will be wanting to concentrate with matters on the pitch, but he can't do that at this moment in time.

The players have every right to be concerned, and I think this could have an impact on their performances on the pitch.

It's still a job to them at the end of the day and the club need to pay them as quickly as possible.
