Phil Parkinson has revealed that he hopes to complete a second signing as early as Monday.

Sunderland have already completed one signing  in the shape of Kyle Lafferty who agreed a short-term contract earlier this month.

But with plenty of reports doing the rounds, it seems that another deal may not be too far away.

One that could be completed is a move for Greg Docherty.

The Rangers midfielder is said to be available on loan and Parkinson confirmed talks with the 23-year-old had taken place.

Quoted by the Sunderland Echo, he said: "Greg is one of a number of players we’ve looked at, and there are plenty of others out there as well.

“We’re just working through it bit by bit.
“We had a player who was supposed to come up yesterday for a medical but his club picked up a slight injury in training. That’s been put back to Monday but we’re hoping that will be sorted on Monday.
“We’re ready to make our second signing and that changed right at the last minute, but we’re just working towards everything and hopefully we can piece things together to add to what we’ve got.” The verdict It will be a huge boost if Sunderland can get another deal done by Monday. The Black Cats have made a real improvement in recent weeks but they'll certainly need more depth if they're to sustain a push for promotion this term. Any addition will come too soon for the MK Dons clash, but it'll be great to have them on board by the time they face Doncaster Rovers next Friday.
