Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has admitted that he is unsure about his future at the club.

Bolton are due to appear in High Court on Wednesday over an unpaid tax bill of £1.2million after a winding-up petition issued by HM Revenue & Customs, and could be put into administration.

Laurence Bassini is trying to buy the club from current owner Ken Anderson to save it from administration, but the deal is thought to be on the brink of collapse.

Parkinson has been manager at the University of Bolton Stadium for almost three years, but his future at the club is uncertain, after a terrible season for the club both on and off the field.

Bolton have been relegated to League One and Parkinson admitted that he will wait to see what happens in court this week before perusing answers on his own future.

"I honestly don’t know. I wanted to get to the end of the season, which I have done, now I can go away and when we find out who the owner of the club is we can speak to them," said Parkinson, as quoted by The Bolton News.

"Whether it goes into admin, or whatever, I just want to spend a bit of time with the family and see what happens at the club this week.

“Everyone will have their fingers crossed that there is a resolution which is as positive as possible for the club, going forward.

"There have been very trying circumstances all the way through the three years I have been here but this year has been increased in terms of the regularity of problems we’ve faced at the club.

“It has been very testing, not just for the staff, but for everyone who works at the club. It has had a draining effect on everyone."

The Verdict

It has been a terrible season for Bolton Wanderers both on and off the field.

With Bassini no nearer to completing his takeover, it seems as though the club could be put into administration within the next 24 hours.

This would be disastrous for the football club and would mean the team would likely start next season in League One with a points deduction.

It could also influence whether Parkinson will want to remain at the club, after a difficult few seasons so far.
