Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has admitted that he has not had time to think about his future at the club, after it was confirmed that Lawrence Bassini has agreed a deal to buy the club.

The Championship club confirmed earlier this week that English businessman and former Watford owner Bassini has agreed a deal to buy the club from current owner Ken Anderson.

Following the change of ownership, Parkinson is hoping to sit down with the new owner to discuss his future at the club, but will wait until after the double-header against Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers.

The Bolton boss admitted that he has not had time to think about his position at the club as he has been firmly focused on preparing for both matches over the Easter weekend.

“I haven’t really been able to think about it because the ownership has only really arrived in the last 24 hours,” said Parkinson, as quoted by The Bolton Evening News.

“I have been trying to concentrate on the games and preparing the players as best I can for the Easter period. For quite a long time when we have talked about new owners I have looked forward to sitting down and having a discussion with him sooner rather than later.

“I am sure everybody will give him a good welcome in the football club and in the town in general.”

Bolton are currently 23rd in the Championship table, ten points from safety, with just four matches to play and desperately need a win against Aston Villa to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.

The Verdict:

It's been a terrible season for Bolton Wanderers both on and off the field.

The team could be relegated from the Championship as early as this afternoon, if they lose against Aston Villa and other results work against them.

With their relegation all but confirmed, it will be an important summer for the club and Parkinson must decide if he wants to remain at the University of Bolton Stadium.
