The Yorkshire Evening Post's Phil Hay recently issued high-praise for Aston Villa's Tyrone Mings, after his impressive showing against the Whites on Sunday.

Mings has been hugely impressive for Aston Villa this season and has hardly put a foot wrong in their promotion-chasing league campaign.

The defender is a versatile option to have for Dean Smith as well as he can play either at left-back or centre-back where he has been used for the majority of the season

Mings has formed an impressive partnership with Manchester United loanee, Axel Tuanzebe in the centre of defence, and you have to feel that without Mings in this Villa side, they wouldn’t be occupying a place in the top six.

He’s restored the belief that they can win promotion to the Premier Lease this season and fans are rightly warming to him so quickly.

If they can return to the Premier League, then you have to feel as though Villa will definitely look at making Mings’ loan spell a permanent one.

It seems unlikely that he has much of a future at AFC Bournemouth, with opportunities seemingly hard to come by in Eddie Howe’s side in recent years, which is understandable given that the Cherries have been impressive in the top-flight.

There’s no doubting that Mings is a confident player, and Hay’s latest comments are only going to send his confidence levels rocketing heading into a crucial period of the season.

If you’re a Leeds United fan, then you have to be fearful of what Mings brings to the Aston Villa team, and there will surely be a hint of jealousy from the Elland Road faithful.

Mings will be key to their promotion hopes, and we could well see Villa taking on Leeds in the Championship Play-Off final this season, in what would be a real spectacle at Wembley, where Mings would be looking top cap off an excellent season with the Villans.
