Phil Hay has revealed that Leeds United training will resume tomorrow, with sections of the Championship determined to finish the season despite obvious concerns surrounding the health of players.

Leeds were flying heading into the EFL’s postponement, on a six-game unbeaten run and five-game winning streak, which had left them only nine games away from securing a Premier League return.

Of course, a ball hasn’t been kicked in the Championship for almost three months, but plans are being put in place for a return to training after players went through key health tests at the back end of last week.

Quiz: Have Leeds United done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no?

And, on the back of those results becoming public knowledge, Hay has confirmed that there will be a return to group training tomorrow, with Leeds amongst the clubs taking the first steps towards the resume of the Championship.

When things can resume, Leeds have nine games to secure their promotion back to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are top of the table, a point clear of West Brom in second. More importantly, however, is the seven-point lead that Leeds hold over Fulham, who hold the biggest threat to the Championship’s top-two.

The Verdict

This is great news for Leeds. They are desperate to play on in the Championship and win promotion without relying on Points Per Game.

A return to training is a big step towards that and things should, hopefully, start to snowball for them in the coming weeks.

Then, we will see if they can hold their nerve in the promotion race.
