Leeds United are reportedly not planning to sign any more players before the end of the January window, despite freeing up wages after Eunan O'Kane completed his move to Luton Town.

The Whites have signed three players since the start of January, bringing in Manchester City winger Ian Poveda, RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin, and Chievo goalkeeper Elia Caprile.

In addition to the arrivals, a number of players have also left the Yorkshire club.

O'Kane is the latest name to add to that list, as the Whites announced today that the 29-year-old has joined Luton on an 18-month loan deal.

The Irishman arrived at Elland Road from Bournemouth and has made 58 appearances in total but has not featured for Leeds since Marcelo Bielsa took charge of the club last summer.

He was sent on loan at the start of the 2018/19 campaign but suffered a nasty double leg-break in September 2018.

Phil Hay from The Athletic has revealed that though O'Kane's exit has freed up some space on the Yorkshire club's wage bill, they're not planning on making any further signings.

Leeds are top of the Championship after their 3-2 victory against Millwall at Elland Road on Tuesday evening.

The Verdict

Offloading O'Kane for an extended period makes a lot of sense as it didn't seem he was in Bielsa's plans moving forward.

Clearly, Luton feel he is a good fit and were impressed with what he offered in his brief spell there last season.

Despite having got some good business done, some Leeds fans may be slightly disappointed that the club aren't pushing for one more deal but Bielsa indicated earlier today that he was happy with the state of his squad.

At this point, they look on course to return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years but you'd hope for their sake that they don't look back on this later in the season and wish they'd brought one more player in.
