Leeds United remain well on course to win promotion into the Premier League this season under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.

The Whites are unbeaten in their last 11 games in the Championship, and are currently sat ten points clear of third-placed Preston North End in the league table.

One player that hasn't featured as much as he would have liked to for the Whites this season is Adam Forshaw, with the midfielder missing Leeds' last 13 league games through injury.

Marcelo Bielsa has recently revealed in a pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Fulham that Forshaw isn't any closer to returning to action.

Speaking on the Phil Hay show, The Athletic's Phil Hay issued an update on Forshaw's recovery, and revealed that the club don't want him to be set for a further spell on the sidelines, which would be the case if he was to have his injury operated on.

"We’ve got Forshaw, who is missing again for Fulham this weekend and there has to be a worry about his fitness.

"It’s been going on for a long time and I know the club certainly don’t want him to go for an operation and don’t want to lose him to that.

"But you do feel that it can be indefinite this. He’s trying week-after-week to get back and not quite making it."

Leeds will know that a positive result against Fulham this weekend could give them some real momentum heading into the New Year, as they look to make a long-awaited return into the Premier League.

QUIZ: Leeds United through the decade – How much do you remember about the 2018/19 season?

The Verdict:

The sooner he's back, the better.

Marcelo Bielsa isn't exactly blessed with a great amount of squad depth, and Forshaw would have been a good option to rely on when called upon around the hectic periods of this year's league campaign.

But with the midfielder not being any closer to a return to the first team picture, the Leeds boss will have to make do with his current options, and hope that they don't pick up nay injuries themselves as the season progresses.
