The debate between Leeds United supporters about whether Marcelo Bielsa should be starting Adam Forshaw over Kalvin Phillips doesn't seem to be cooling down anytime soon.

Bielsa was forced into a change for their game against Middlesbrough at the weekend, with Phillips replacing Forshaw who had been ruled out with a knee injury.

Phillips went on to put in an impressive performance for the Whites, and netted the last gasp equaliser for Leeds deep into injury-time.

Yorkshire Evening Post's Phil Hay revealed that Bielsa would have opted to go with Forshaw over Phillips if he had been fit enough for the game.

Forshaw has made 16 league starts and has been keeping Phillips out of his natural CDM role since he was dismissed against Nottingham Forest on New Year's Day.

Phillips is certainly the more versatile option to have in the Leeds side, as he can play as a centre-back if needed, but there's no doubting that Leeds supporters would rather have him in the CDM role ahead of Forshaw.

So, it will be an interesting to see who Bielsa opts to start in Leeds' game against Swansea on Wednesday, in what could be a crucial game as they battle to win promotion this season.

Bielsa's side are currently sat 2nd in the Championship table, and are just three points ahead of Sheffield United, with other teams in the top six closing the gap on Leeds.

The Verdict:

I think this is absolutely ludicrous.

Forshaw has been performing poorly for Leeds for a number of games now, and he could certainly do with a spell out of the team.

Phillips is a better option to have in the team and should certainly be replacing Forshaw for future games after such an impressive performance at the weekend against Middlesbrough.
