Phil Hay has claimed there is ‘no chance’ Marcelo Bielsa would consider involving Samu Saiz at Leeds United if he was to surprisingly return to the club.

Leeds were dealt a mammoth blow pre-Christmas, with Saiz forcing a return to Spain after becoming unsettled in England.

Getafe and La Liga were his destination, although things aren’t going well for the 28-year-old back in the Spanish top-flight.

It’s been suggested by Hay that Getafe will not look to make his loan deal permanent in the summer, with some debating whether we could see Saiz back at Elland Road between now and the end of the Championship season.

However, the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist has reiterated that there’s no chance Saiz would want to return, whilst Bielsa wouldn’t consider the Spaniard for the Championship’s run-in.

Saiz made 19 appearances earlier in the season under Bielsa, but was largely ineffective, assisting just four goals in that time.

By the time his departure came he’d lost his place in the starting XI to Adam Forshaw and was used as an impact sub by Bielsa.

Leeds have since turned to Tyler Roberts in the No.10 role, with the 20-year-old assisting two goals in Friday night’s 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

The Verdict

Whilst things aren’t going well at Getafe for Saiz, there’s nothing to suggest he wants to return to Leeds, with homesickness the reason for his return to Spain.

Getafe might not be a permanent solution for him, but it seems Spain is and a U-turn is unlikely, with Leeds looking to move on.

Bielsa will be comfortable with his options now and won’t want to welcome Saiz back into the fold, which is completely understandable.
