Leeds United could be hit with a player blow heading towards the festive period it seems, after an allegation made against one of their players.

It was previously reported by The Sun that the FA were investigating claims of racial abuse towards Charlton's Jonathan Leko from Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Speaking in a Q&A session on The Athletic's website, Phil Hay revealed that a decision over if any punishment will be handed out should be reached in the near future.

"A decision won't take much longer. They've interviewed two Charlton players and they spoke to Casilla last week. They should have all the information they need.

"On the basis that two players at Charlton said they heard a racist comments, I suspect he will be cited. The minimum ban for racist offences is six games."

Casilla has shown improvement in his performances this season as Leeds look to make a long-awaited return to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.

The shot-stopper struggled to settle into life at Elland Road in last year's campaign, and didn't cover himself in glory during Leeds' defeat to Derby County in their Play-Off Semi-Final towards the end of last season.

It's likely that Casilla will be involved for Leeds' next game against QPR this weekend, although it remains to be seen as to when a verdict will be reached on whether he'll be punished by the FA.

The Verdict:

Leeds will be hoping that Casilla isn't hit with a lengthy ban.

The Spaniard has really impressed me this season, and if he's found guilty of the offence, then it appears he could be in a spot of bother.

I'm not convinced that Leeds have a good enough replacement for Casilla in () and they'll be hoping to have Casilla back between the posts at the earliest of opportunities.
