There have been rumours circulating that Leeds United could be hit with a potential points deduction over the spygate scandal.

But those rumours have been all but ended after a reputable journalist provided supporters with an important update over any sanction that the Whites would face.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Phil Hay, has admitted that he doesn't think any possible points deduction will be put in place by the EFL over the matter.

"Have spoken to a lot of people about this and no-one seems to be talking about a points deduction. Doesn’t sound likely."

This latest update will be a huge boost to Leeds supporters, who would have been nervously waiting over a possible points deduction.

The same publication also claim that Nottingham Forest, Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Bristol City have also put their name to a list that has been handed to the EFL over the spygate scandal.

It has already been confirmed that the EFL are investigating the matter, and it remains to be seen as to what the outcome is of that investigation which could see Leeds be punished for their actions.

Marcelo Bielsa's side will be hoping to put things right on the pitch when they take on Rotherham United this weekend, as they look to bounce back from a shock 2-1 defeat to Stoke on Saturday.

The Verdict:

This is excellent news for Leeds United.

Supporters may not have admitted it, but they would have been waiting nervously over the outcome of this investigation.

Some would have feared that they could be hit with a possible points deduction, but they won't be too concerned over any other outcome now, as the worst has been all but ruled out.
