Jack Harrison would likely cost Leeds United £10m if they exercised their option to sign the Manchester City winger permanently in the summer transfer window.

Leeds moved to re-sign Harrison for a second season-long loan spell back in the summer transfer window, with the club confirming that they have the option to make that deal permanent when the 2019/20 campaign comes to a close.

When quizzed on how long Harrison’s contract with City runs for, in addition to how much his signature would cost, Phil Hay of The Athletic responded on Twitter, saying: “Contract to 2022. Option to buy at the end of this loan. I suspect you’d be in for £10m, something like that.”

Harrison scored four goals and registered three assists last season for Leeds in the Championship, but his contribution is threatening to go through the roof this term.

The 23-year-old has already scored four goals this season, whilst he’s registered five assists, including one in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.

As of now, Harrison is yet to feature for City’s first-team, with Pep Guardiola guiding the Manchester club to back-to-back titles in the last two seasons.

The Verdict

Even though Harrison is in impressive form for Leeds this season, you sense that City’s first-team is a little bit beyond him, even though he’s only 23.

However, from a Leeds perspective, you could see why signing him for £10m would be good business.

He’s settled into Marcelo Bielsa’s system, he’s improving and looks like he will eventually have enough about him to play in the Premier League.
