Leeds United defender Oliver Casey remains a transfer target for League One side MK Dons on Deadline Day according to The Athletic's Phil Hay.

Casey has made three first-team appearances for Leeds so far in his career, but has found game time hard to come by this season, after Leeds won promotion into the Premier League last term.

The Yorkshire-based side have added to their defensive options in the summer transfer window, which has pushed Casey further down the pecking order in Marcelo Bielsa's plans.

Casey made his Leeds United first-team debut as a late substitute against Huddersfield Town back in December 2019, as he replaced Mateusz Klich.

MK Dons are reportedly interested in signing the 20-year-old on a temporary basis until the end of the season, although it is also hinted that other clubs are keen on a deal, although Russell Martin's side are the only team named in the report.

But with the deadline for deals to be completed at 11pm on Monday, they'll have to act swiftly to finalise the details of any potential agreement between all parties involved.

MK Dons are set to return to action on Tuesday evening, when they take on Sunderland in the EFL Trophy, in what is likely to be a tricky test.

The Verdict:

I think this could prove to be a good move for Casey.

He's not had much experience in senior football, so it's likely to further his development if he was loaned out in search of regular game time.

MK Dons have been inconsistent in terms of their recent form, and they clearly feel as though Casey is a player that can add something to their team, as they look to pull further clear of the relegation zone in League One.

If he can impress out on loan this season, then it certainly wouldn't come as a surprise to see him pushing for a spot in the matchday squad with Leeds in the future, especially with the likes of Pascal Struijk being a good example of a player that has taken the chance presented to him by Marcelo Bielsa in the first-team.
